Digital dentistry: the impact on patient care

The world of dentistry is not immune to the transformative wave of technology. At Wimbledon Dental Care, we’ve fully embraced the digital revolution, recognising its immense potential to enhance our services and improve our patient care. Here, we are not just dentists. We are pioneers, consistently implementing cutting-edge technology to provide our patients with the best dental solutions. We apply these to all our services including treatments such as white fillings in Wimbledon.

White fillings in Wimbledon

Digital dentistry has granted us the ability to offer streamlined, efficient, and more comfortable treatments. We understand that visiting a dentist can be daunting for many, and our aim is to make the experience as stress-free and enjoyable as possible. The digital revolution has given us the tools to do exactly that.

The art of diagnosis and treatment planning with digital dentistry at Wimbledon Dental Care

The first step in any dental procedure including white fillings in Wimbledon, is a thorough and accurate diagnosis. The traditional methods of assessing dental health often relied on subjective interpretations and physical examinations. However, with digital dentistry, we have been able to revolutionise this process at Wimbledon Dental Care.

In our practice, we utilise advanced imaging technology, such as digital X-rays and intraoral cameras, which offer a more detailed and comprehensive view of the oral cavity. These technologies allow us to detect problems early, such as cavities, gum disease, or other oral health issues, ensuring we provide the most effective treatment plan for our patients.

Digital impressions have also become an essential part of our treatment planning. Our state-of-the-art digital scanners offer a quick, precise, and comfortable way of taking impressions, enhancing the patient experience.

Delivering precision treatments with digital dentistry at Wimbledon Dental Care

At Wimbledon Dental Care, digital dentistry plays a critical role in our treatment procedures. With the precision it provides, we can perform dental procedures with unparalleled accuracy, which ultimately translates into more effective treatments and faster recovery times for our patients.

Take, for instance, the use of CAD/CAM technology in crafting dental restorations. This technology has allowed us to design and manufacture highly accurate and custom restorations, such as crowns, veneers, and implants, in a single appointment.

Enhancing patient communication and education through digital dentistry at Wimbledon Dental Care

Digital dentistry has also transformed the way we communicate and educate our patients at Wimbledon Dental Care. With the help of visual aids, such as digital X-rays and intraoral images, we can clearly show our patients what’s going on inside their mouths, making them active participants in their oral health.

Moreover, we use digital smile design software that allows our patients to visualise their treatment outcomes even before the treatment begins. This technology not only improves communication but also ensures our patients are satisfied and excited about their dental journey with us.

The digital revolution in dentistry at Wimbledon Dental Care has been nothing short of transformative. It has allowed us to provide a higher standard of care, delivering precise treatments including white fillings in Wimbledon, enhancing patient comfort, and promoting better communication. As we continue to integrate and adapt to new digital technologies, we remain committed to our mission: to provide the best dental care possible for all our patients. We invite you to experience the difference digital dentistry can make in your dental care journey at Wimbledon Dental Care.

How dental hygiene affects your day-to-day life

Maintaining good dental hygiene Wimbledon is imperative for your overall well-being, as it keeps your teeth and gums healthy and free of disease. Most, if not all dental issues can be prevented or avoided by practising the simplest of dental hygiene techniques.

dental-hygiene-wimbledon

Research has found a connection between poor dental hygiene and several life-threatening health conditions, such as heart disease and stroke. Additionally, oral diseases as a result of poor dental hygiene can be unsightly, debilitating and costly, so at Wimbledon Dental Care, we highly recommend the practice of good dental hygiene and regular visits to the dentist.

What dental issues are caused by poor dental hygiene?

Tooth decay is the most common dental disease worldwide despite being preventable in most cases. It occurs when bacteria in your mouth produce acids that attack the enamel of your teeth, resulting in cavities in your teeth. If left untreated, you can experience side effects, including pain, infection and, in the worst case, even tooth loss.

Another common dental disease we see due to poor dental hygiene Wimbledon is gingivitis; this is characterised by the inflammation of the gum tissue due to the formation of plaque. If left untreated, gingivitis can develop into a more serious disease called Periodontal disease which begins to affect the tissue, which is responsible for supporting the teeth and causes progressive loss of the bone beneath the teeth. When this is not treated in time, the affected teeth loosen and eventually begin to fall out.

How to prevent dental diseases

To prevent developing dental diseases, it is vital to maintain good dental hygiene Wimbledon by having an overall strategy of satisfactory dental care at home and visiting the dentist regularly. We recommend visiting your dentist at least twice a year for a thorough check for any signs of disease and a deep clean of your teeth. Whilst you may be taking precautions at home by brushing and flossing regularly, having your teeth cleaned professionally by a dentist or dental hygienist will ensure that the areas that are hard to reach with a regular toothbrush are cleaned thoroughly. Your dentist can also provide you with information on how to prevent oral diseases and the best ways you can take care of your teeth.

Most dental diseases can be prevented through good oral hygiene habits, with the most obvious being brushing at least twice a day with toothpaste containing fluoride. It is also important to floss regularly to remove food and dirt that the bristles of a toothbrush may not be able to reach. Rinsing your mouth with a fluoride mouthwash will also eradicate any bacteria that linger on your teeth, tongue and gums.

How diet can help improve your dental hygiene

An aspect of good dental hygiene that most people ignore is maintaining a healthy diet and eating and drinking habits. It is best to avoid foods and drinks containing a high content of sugar and starch, which can otherwise lead to cavities and decay. It is also best to avoid regular snacking and to stick to whole meals. Additionally, smoking and excessive alcohol or caffeinated drinks can lead to staining and tooth decay, so it is best to avoid these where possible.

Teeth whitening

Dentistry and technology have delivered a vast array of improvements which allows us to provide a variety of cosmetic dentistry Wimbledon treatments. We do, however, practise extreme care with our patients, and even something as simple as teeth whitening is subject to an examination first. We will first need to identify the cause of your dental discolouration or staining as these can be indications of underlying medical conditions. An examination can identify several conditions, such as liver disease, an eating disorder, rickets and many more. Smoking and a variety of foods and drinks can also cause teeth to stain. If we identify anything serious, we will recommend contacting your general practitioner. When we deliver a dental whitening procedure, we can create gum shields that are designed specifically for you as well as a cleaning solution that will not adversely affect your teeth and gums. Our technique involves whitening your teeth gradually so that you don’t suddenly find that you have blindingly white artificial-looking teeth.

Misaligned teeth corrected quickly and effectively

Having misaligned teeth can affect your confidence and make you self-conscious when you want to smile. For many years, the only effective way of correcting misaligned teeth was by using a brace made of metal, wire and bands. Technology has given us not only a new appliance but also new hardware and software that have made the treatment more comfortable, efficient and effective. We have the facility to take thousands of images a second, and by using the software, we can show you a virtual image of the expected result of your dental treatment. In addition, the actual appliance that you wear over your teeth will look like a gum shield and be made from a clear dental material that is almost invisible. The procedure concentrates on just your front teeth and can, therefore, produce results within six months. More and more patients are enjoying the benefits of this modern dental treatment, which is also giving them the confidence to enjoy smiling.

More cosmetic options

We are proud that we can offer a variety of options if you suffer from stained, chipped or small gaps between your teeth which you find unsightly. Our experience and skill in using porcelain veneers can also offer a reasonably quick cosmetic dentistry Wimbledon solution. We will cut and shape the porcelain veneer so that it fits well over your teeth. Achieving the correct colour match for your natural teeth takes years of experience and skill. Once fitted, the veneers can last for ten years or more giving you a beautiful, natural-looking smile.

A smile that you can be proud to display

Your mental health will benefit enormously from a broad self-assured smile. You can be confident that we will always advise you based on what our thorough examination reveals and that we always have your best interests at heart. The cosmetic dentistry that we deliver is based on the result of a thorough examination and a carefully considered approach.

Is cosmetic dentistry worth it?

Cosmetic dentistry Wimbledon is an investment in improving your smile. Depending on the smile imperfections you need to address, improving the look of your smile can come at a price which is why asking if cosmetic dentistry Wimbledon is worth it, is a valid question.

cosmetic-dentistry-wimbledon

In considering this question, you may want to reflect on what impact having a pleasing smile will have on your life. Anyone with an unattractive smile knows the embarrassment and lack of self-confidence that accompanies having a poor dental appearance.

Fortunately, people no longer have to suffer awkward smiles thanks to developments in cosmetic dentistry Wimbledon that have made available comfortable, convenient and cost-effective treatment plans.

At Wimbledon Dental Care, our dental care service menu includes a diverse array of aesthetics-focused treatments and procedures including versatile dental veneers, composite bonding, the ever-popular Invisalign aligners and personalised smile makeover treatment plans.

When is cosmetic dentistry needed?

There are a number of dental imperfections that ruin the look of smiles. These dental imperfections include crooked and misaligned teeth, discoloured or stained teeth, unsightly spaces between teeth, chipped and cracked teeth and missing teeth.

An experienced cosmetic dentist can identify just what the problems are that cause you to be less confident in smiling and suggest suitable treatment plans to improve your dental appearance.

Treatment plans that include versatile cosmetic dental solutions like dental veneers can cover a wide variety of dental appearance challenges in one treatment plan. Many patients regard dental veneers as an all-in-one fix as this cosmetic dental solution improves conditions such as staining, chips and cracks, minor gaps and irregularly shaped and sized teeth.

What is the value of cosmetic dentistry?

Most patients consider the boost in self-confidence worth the cost of cosmetic dental treatments. Confidence is a key element required for success in professional and personal lives.  A drop in confidence due to a less-than-pleasing smile is linked to challenges in finding a job, making friends and finding romance.

A pleasing smile plays a significant role in forming a positive first impression. But there are other benefits too. It may be hard to believe, but based on your good looks and the attractiveness of your smile, you are more likely to be found intelligent, capable, endowed with leadership characteristics, kind, empathetic and approachable. That smiling levels up your ability to find success in life is perhaps the most important reason why cosmetic dentistry is worth considering.

Dentists have other reasons why they encourage cosmetic dental treatment plans – benefits that have everything to do with promoting good dental health. When you consult a cosmetic dentist for cosmetic dentistry, it is par for the course that they examine the state of your overall oral health to be certain that there are no concerning dental issues to be worried about.

Secondly, once patients have the smile they have always dreamed about having, they are more inclined to protect the loveliness of their smile. Investing in cosmetic dentistry encourages you to take better care of your dental health so that you can continue to smile confidently.

For the best results in cosmetic dentistry, it is important that you choose a cosmetic dentist with the right level of experience and skills. Contact us at Wimbledon Dental Care for a superior level of cosmetic dental care.

What are Six Month Smiles?

Six Month Smiles Wimbledon provides a tooth straightening option focused on adult patients, giving them the treatment they need in a convenient way as quickly as possible.

The practice of altering the position of teeth is called orthodontic treatment. It is a very old part of dentistry that has been developed primarily to resolve dental misalignments that obstruct patients from eating or talking. The basic mechanism that applies pressure consistently to teeth to encourage them to move has remained the same, but the tools used to apply that pressure have changed over the centuries.

The problem of adult orthodontic care

In the UK orthodontic treatment can be started by those under the age of 18 free of charge if their misalignment is considered clinically important. This means that for most adults, their misalignments are strictly cosmetic. This doesn’t mean that they do not have an impact on their everyday life, but the traditional use of a brace for somewhere between 6 and 12 months, is a barrier to entry far too steep for most.

The six-month smile solution

Six Month Smiles Wimbledon has doubled down on this, providing a treatment method that exclusively focuses on cosmetic misalignments with a minimalistic brace system. This allows them to be far more subtle with only tooth coloured wires passing in front of the teeth, and the use of clear ceramic brackets.

Prioritising the treatment of the most visually impactful front teeth, the more stubborn double-rooted molars do not have to be considered. This allows treatment times to be consistently completed in under 6 months.

Assessment and starting care

All dental procedures have to begin with an assessment. Here at Wimbledon Dental Care it’s very important for us to direct our patients towards treatment that would be effective and appropriate for them, as pointing in the direction of treatment that would be less impactful and more discreet for these purposes alone is not the best idea to resolve complex cases.

At the end of the day, our goal is to help you reach your goal, not to sell any particular treatment or method. So if there is an alternative that would be better for you we need to discuss this before making any care plans.

If appropriate, the next stage is to take dental moulds, and the brackets and brace can be built around them. During the fitting, the individual brackets are attached to the front big six front teeth and connected with a minimalistic archwire.

As treatment continues and your teeth take the new positions, the brace will have to be adjusted. For most cases, this will be every 4 to 5 weeks, and gives us the opportunity to check the progress in treatment as well as the health of your teeth.

If you’re looking for an orthodontic solution, or think that Six Month Smiles Wimbledon could be helpful for you or a family member, please feel free to get in contact. We are currently accepting new patients at the clinic and would be happy to give you further advice.

FAQs about white fillings answered by Wimbledon Dental Care

If you were raised in the 1980s or 90s or before that, you would likely have had an amalgam filling or crown placed in your mouth if you ever needed a restorative.

Amalgam or metal-based restoratives were the standard in dental care for decades, but they

often suffered from issues such as reacting to hot and cold beverages in the mouth. This would cause them to shrink and expand, resulting in damage to the surrounding tooth. Also, if you had decay or damage at the front of your mouth, an amalgam or black filling was not exactly the restoration look you would be going for! So, composite or porcelain fillings and crowns were developed, and surprise, surprise, they were a huge success!

When you come to Wimbledon Dental Care, if we find that you need a restorative fitting or replacement, we will always offer you white fillings Wimbledon. We know first-hand how useful porcelain and composite are in restoration and can assure you that once these fillings or crowns are fitted, they will last a long time and will stand the test of biting into and chewing food with ease.

You may have some concerns about white fillings Wimbledon being more expensive than amalgam ones, or you may simply want to know more. And in this article, our team answers common questions that we are asked about this restoration option.

What are enamel-coloured fillings made from?

White fillings Wimbledon are usually made from composite. However, if you are looking to spend a bit more money, you can have them made from porcelain. You may also be able to have a glass ionomer filling fitted, which is technically a white filling but is a mixture of glass and composite, which is better for a tooth that is suffering from issues relating to fluoride loss.

How are they fitted?

If you’ve ever had an amalgam filling fitted, you’ll be all too familiar with a system that revolves around a small trowel-like object being placed into your mouth and placing the amalgam putty into the hole created by our team after removing the decay. With composite-based fillings, we will still need to remove the decay in the tooth, but then use a device that looks very similar to a glue gun (and even sounds like one!) when it’s being used to apply the composite to the tooth. It is then shaped, and a UV light is used to cure and harden the resin.

How long do they last?

There are many people who have concerns that because these fillings are made of porcelain or composite, they will not last as long as metal ones. However, studies have found that composite or porcelain fillings and crowns actually last longer than metal ones due in part to the fact that they do not react to temperature changes in the mouth.

Do they have any advantages over amalgam ones?

There are many advantages that composite fillings have, with the first and most obvious one being aesthetics. So, if you have a tooth that is near the front of your mouth that needs to have a filling fitted, the porcelain or composite option will not draw any attention. As well as this, they are non-reactive to heat, last longer and actually require less of the tooth to be removed, they also keep as much of your tooth intact as possible.

At Home Teeth Whitening The Best Way To Whiten

The most commonly commented on dental problem is the colour of patients teeth, most people we see have some sort of problem with their tooth colour, whether it be from staining, blackening or general discoloration, there’s usually something they want to change when it comes to the shade of their smile and luckily the team here at Wimbledon Dental Care have the tools you need.

Teeth whitening Wimbledon is becoming the most common cosmetic dental procedure, it’s affordable, easy and safe, but there’s tons of options on the market these days. So many in fact that it can leave us feeling lost as to which option is the best one for us. For this reason we’ve partnered up with zoom whitening to bring you the best teeth whitening at home.

What is Zoom Teeth Whitening Wimbledon?

Zoom teeth whitening Wimbledon is an at home solution to teeth whitening. You take home your custom made trays to use alongside a safe bleaching solution which over two weeks will be used nightly to lighten your teeth. We love this option as it’s quick, easy and gives you a long lasting solution to your whitening worries as you can top up the bleaching solution for use on an adhoc basis as and when you need to after the initial two weeks.

Why Do Our Teeth Discolour?

If you’ve decided to invest your money in teeth whitening then you’ll likely want to keep doing what you can to keep your teeth as white as possible. In order to explain how to fight discoloration it’s a good idea to understand why it happens in the first place.

In our foods and drinks there’s something called tannins and these are the part of foods that leave the colour on our teeth. Some foods have high contents of tannins and it just so happens that in lots of cases these happen to be the foods that we really like such as coffee and tea, which a very large portion of us like to enjoy daily and multiple times.

What Can Be Done To Combat It?

This is pretty simple really… avoid high tannin produce. Easier said than done though. As we’ve said some of the higher end products we enjoy like wine, fruits and curries so rather than avoiding completely it’s about finding ways to balance how much of something we’re consuming.

If you’re a daily coffee drinker who’s drinking up to three or four cups a day then it might not be a bad idea that you try and cut back regardless of your teeth. Decide which coffee you want to keep and try and keep it to one per day, two max.

At Home Whitening Products

We would warn against any non-regulated whitening products and would encourage you to invest your money in approved safe options. There are some fantastic whitening toothpastes on the market that really do work so check those out for sure.

Any product with any bleach is a no go! You will damage your teeth and cause yourself to have a major dental bill.

Invisalign smiles

At our surgery we offer a solution for realigning smiles using Invisalign. While our preventive treatments are suitable from an early age for children’s teeth Wimbledon, Invisalign is designed for patients with all of their adult teeth and there is a special younger range for teenagers. Invisalign consists of aligners, which are worn over the teeth and apply pressure to move them into their correct positions. This process usually takes between 6 to 18 months and is a big hit with teens, because when the aligners are being worn, they are virtually invisible! It is because the aligners are made of clear plastic, so only the teeth should be visible to other people. This allows patients to feel confident about wearing their aligners for at least 22 hours a day. This means that you don’t have to wear them when you are eating or cleaning your teeth. You should also have time to take them out for playing sports or doing the twist – it’s up to you!

Are the aligners uncomfortable to wear?

Unsurprisingly, we get asked this a lot and we are pleased to tell you that the aligners should be very comfortable to wear thanks to the fact that we make them bespoke for your mouth. Using iTero technology, we digitally scan your mouth and this gets us the precise measurements we need to have your aligners manufactured in the Invisalign laboratory. Once fitted, the aligners then sit snugly on the gum line and once you’re used to them should be very comfortable. They shouldn’t cause you any pain at all. You will need to change your aligners regularly, and we will provide you with enough aligners to switch between for 6 weeks, after which you will need to have a check-up and get your next 6 weeks’ worth of aligners.

Let the journey begin!

If you would like to find out more about your children’s teeth Wimbledon and Invisalign, why not book in for a consultation with our professional and friendly team who are keen to meet new patients and get their mouths feeling and looking fabulous. During a consultation, our dentist can look at your child’s mouth to examine it and identify what treatments would be suitable for the alignment issues that they have. Invisalign is typically used to treat mild to moderate alignment issues, such as crowded teeth, gapped teeth, overbites or underbites. Remember that Invisalign is a suitable treatment for adults too, so you could also book in if you are concerned about your teeth and make it a family affair!
